Family Protection Dogs For Sale:
A "Family Protection Dog" is more commonly known as a "Companion Watch Dog" or "Family Guardian" to the general public. A Family Protection Dog is not a "Junk Yard Dog" or "Back Yard Attack Dog", it is raised with children and around other animals as a member of the Family, it is a part of the family in everyday life.
A Family Protection Dog will instinctively alert its owners to the presence of intruders coming into its house or territory by barking or acting in a agitated or suspicious manner. Many Working and Herding breeds show a natural instinct as a Family Protection Dog, and a KWD Level 1 Family Protection will be tested for these natural qualities prior to being selected for placement. A Level 1 Family Protection Dog's Obedience, Sociability and General Control is without a doubt something that they were not born with, and therefore these behaviors must be trained.
A trained Family Protection Dog should bark, threaten, and/or growl while on duty in his territory when there is a presence of a threat or a stranger. This dog will most likely never see a true threat and is more of a "Pet" or "Companion" then a "Trained Protection Dog". A Family Protection Dog is not formally trained to Bite or Attack an intruder and should not do so unwarranted.
Training
A Family Protection Dog is well-behaved in the house and around children as well as other animals. Level 1 Family Protection Dog Training consists of Manners as well as Basic Obedience commands i.e. Sit, Down & Come. A Level 1 Family Protection Dog is normally housebroken and has been raised since birth as an indoor dog or has been an inside / outside dog.
In some cases it is possible in the future to put the necessary training into a Family Protection Dog to make him/her into a Personal Protection Dog, however, this is not always the case. We advise our clients to think thoroughly about the possibilities of the future need for a serious Security K9 before settling for a Family Protection Dog.
If, in the future someone would like to attempt to take their Family Protection Dog through the training program required for Personal Protection Dogs, KWD offers Extensive Classes and Training Workshops to accommodate such a request.
Level 1 Family/Home Protection Dogs:
Obedience: House Trained, (Manners, Sit, Down, Stay, Come - On Leash/Off Leash).
Protection: Visual Deterrence, Started in Protection training (not fully trained to bite attacker), Stranger alert, and more!
An in-home one or two day handler’s course is available for $750.00 per day
